The JAL Honolulu Marathon is run in Honolulu on the island of Oahu. The course leaves downtown before sunrise, passes Waikiki, rounds the Diamond Head crater and then heads east along the coast. The profile is broadly flat, but tropical heat and humidity dominate the second half of the race.
There is no entry cap and no course cut-off, which makes this marathon genuinely open to slower runners and walkers. It holds a World Athletics Label Road Race designation and draws a large Japanese contingent every year. 609 km.
