The Lake District is the mountain region of north-west England, made up of lakes, steep-sided valleys and rounded but sharply rising fells. The race starts in Coniston and follows a network of mountain paths that are frequently rocky, sometimes waterlogged, with demanding navigation in the more remote sections of the route.
Two formats are offered: the Lakeland 100 over 161 km with 6,300 m of ascent, and the Lakeland 50 over 80 km with 3,000 m. The distances given here are converted from the miles quoted by the organiser.
